Led by the Executive Board, the Executive Branch is the primary body of Student Government responsible for implementing most major initiatives and projects throughout the academic year. The Executive Board comprises the Student Body President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Internal Affairs, and their respective Chief of Staffs.

About Aspire

Elected in Spring of 2026, AspireToBU vowed to create a campus where students can aspire to be the best versions of themselves. Voted in by 73% of the student vote, they are committed to this progress throughout AY 26-27.

Policy Platform

Projects & Initiatives

    The Terrier Station

    The Terrier Station (formerly dog pound) is Boston University Student Government's initiative to expand late-night dining options for students. Student Government is partnering with Auxiliary Services to launch the Terrier Station in Bay State Underground while bringing back Late Night Dining. Following Student Government's advocacy throughout the summer, Late Night Dining will return to West Campus in Fall 2026, with additional updates on the Terrier Station launch coming soon.

    Increased Terrier Spirit

    Student Government is working with the President’s Office to strengthen campus spirit across Boston University. In 2026, President Gilliam launched the “Spirit Day” initiative, and Student Government is building on this effort to increase visibility, participation, and long-term engagement for future classes. VP of Finance Cian met with the President’s Office on 4/21 and again on 7/6 to further develop and finalize implementation plans.

    Comprehensive Transportation Pass

    A key initiative of the AspireToBU campaign has aligned with an ongoing MBTA project aimed at modernizing student transportation. The MBTA recently reached out to Boston University Student Government to explore piloting a "pay-as-you-go" student transit pass that would reduce transportation costs while providing students with a more flexible way to travel throughout Boston. On June 30, Vice President of Finance Cian Moss, Executive Vice President Mya Kelly, and Chief of Staff Alara met with MBTA representatives to discuss the potential partnership. Cian and Alara are now developing a study to gauge student interest, to be launched in the fall.

  • 25-26 Campus Activities Board leadership with headliner Zara Larsson

    Rhett Rockz 2027

    In 2026, Student Government launched RhettRockz, the university’s debut Spring Festival with student openers and headliner Zara Larsson. The event sold out in 48 hours with more than 5,000 students in attendance. We plan to follow up with RhettRockz 2027 by engaging more students, brand partners, and more.

    Student Body Newsletter

    In 2026, Boston University Student Government launched the Student Body Newsletter to keep undergraduates informed about campus news, events, and opportunities. Published every other week under the direction of Press Secretary Sara Valez Patino, the newsletter provides student organizations with a platform to promote their events and initiatives through submissions made using the email below. The initiative aims to increase visibility for campus happenings while strengthening communication across the undergraduate community, with Student Government continuing to refine and expand the newsletter's structure.

    AI Transparency

    Led by Chief of Staff to the Vice President Yiannis Asikis, Student Government has been collaborating with President Gilliam's Office and the University's AI departments to provide student feedback on emerging technologies, including TerrierGPT, and help shape Boston University's approach to artificial intelligence. On May 8, Yiannis Asikis presented findings from the Judicial Advisory Commission to President Gilliam, and Student Government continues to meet with university stakeholders to advance these discussions.

    Global Village 2026

    Following the success of the largest Global Village to date in 2025, Boston University Student Government is proud to continue its partnership with the International Affairs Association for the 2026 event. Building on last year's momentum, the initiative aims to welcome even more student organizations and cultural groups to celebrate the diversity of the Boston University community.

    Terrier's First Initiative

    Student Government is committed to advocating for the rights and interests of all Boston University students. As part of this effort, we are working with the Dean of Students Office to coordinate meetings with the Office of the General Counsel and Government & City Affairs to discuss student concerns and identify opportunities for meaningful advocacy and collaboration.

    LGBTQIA+ Roundtable Discussions

    Student Government is establishing regular meetings with LGBTQ+ student organizations, including the Queer Activist Collective and SHADES, to ensure the concerns and priorities of the queer community are consistently represented in conversations with university administration. Following discussions with student leaders, the initiative is set to launch in the fall as part of Student Government's ongoing commitment to advocacy and collaboration.

  • Public Transportation Support

    In May, the Student Government Executive Board met with Boston University Transportation Services and the BU Cycle Kitchen to explore ways to increase Bluebikes usage and expand reliable, sustainable transportation options for students. Student Government is now working with campus partners to develop events, outreach initiatives, and marketing campaigns that encourage greater use of alternative transportation across the university.

    Allocations Board Transparency

    Student Government is working closely with Allocations Board leadership to strengthen collaboration and improve communication between student organizations and the Allocations Board. To support this effort, Student Government established monthly coordination meetings with AB leadership. On April 27, Vice President of Finance Cian Moss and President Michael Tsegaye met with the Allocations Board to discuss future collaboration and next steps.

    Student Activism Collective

    Student Government will collaborate with the Department of Social Advocacy to create a centralized database of contacts and resources for both on- and off-campus advocacy organizations. Advocacy is a core pillar of the college experience, and this initiative aims to increase awareness and accessibility of existing resources. The Department is currently working to map out the initiative in preparation for AY 25-26.

    Organization Green Kits

    Student Government will provide organizations with a green kit designed to promote sustainability and reduce event-planning costs. The kit will include reusable materials such as dishware, tablecloths, and other event essentials. Student Government is currently working with the Department of Environmental Affairs to map the initiative.

    Campus Safety

    Student Government plans to meet regularly with all bodies involved in campus safety at Boston University to strengthen coordination and communication. On 5/19/26, the Executive Board met with the Head of Emergency Management, the Vice President for Safety, Security & Preparedness, the BUPD Deputy Chief, and other key stakeholders to establish this partnership. Chief of Staff Alara will continue to meet consistently with these offices to provide student feedback on emergency alerts, training protocols, and related safety initiatives.

    Course Materials Exchange

    Student Government will host a School Materials Exchange in coordination with the Department of Academic Affairs this fall. Materials donated during the fall collection period will be made available for pickup outside the Student Government office. Currently, donated items such as books, clipboards, and other supplies are being stored in the office and will be available for distribution in September.

    Innovative Student Challenge

    Student Government will partner with Innovate@BU for the Innovative Student Challenge, a program that provides students with a platform to pitch ideas for improving the BU community. Both Student Government and Innovate@BU will support the implementation of winning proposals through mentorship and funding opportunities. Student Government is currently in contact with Innovate@BU leadership to coordinate event planning and execution.

    Terrier Midterm Election Turnout

    A key initiative under the AspireToBU administration is restoring Student Government’s involvement in political voter turnout and election coverage. Student Government’s Department of City Affairs is leading this effort through its Terrier Turnout Week initiative. Additionally, the VP of Finance and Chief of Staff to the VP, Yiannis, have been in contact with BU’s Office of Federal Relations and relevant political offices to coordinate bringing a government official to campus in the fall.

Finances AY 26-27

All Student Government financial information can be found below. Student Government, the Campus Activities Board, and the various College Governments receive funding through the Community Service Fee (CSF), which is paid by undergraduate students each semester as part of their tuition. The financial information displayed on this page reflects only the accounts and allocations managed by Student Government. Additional CSF-funded organizations include the Allocations Board, Residence Hall Association, and other student-serving entities across the university.

Within Student Government, funding is distributed across its three branches and supporting operations. The primary Student Government budget is divided among the Executive Board, Vice President of Internal Affairs, Cabinet Departments, General Senate Ledger, Senate Committees, Judicial Commission, and Student Elections Commission to support programming, advocacy, operations, and student engagement initiatives throughout the academic year. While it is a cabinet department, the Campus Activities Board retains its own budget due to sheer programming, this includes Splash, Weeks of Welcome, Senior Week, RhettRockz and more. College governments receive their budgets through the senate Finance Committee (FineCo) who oversees the financing of these bodies.

Because these funds come directly from students, they are reinvested directly into the undergraduate experience through events, programs, services, and initiatives that benefit the student body. From signature traditions such as RhettRockz and Weeks of Welcome to campus-wide programming and student advocacy efforts, these resources are intended to enhance student life and ensure that student dollars are returned to students in meaningful ways.
